TBRH, I think Number 3 from the above list comes closest to the likely reality. Kids (and their parents) are already reluctant to spend an arm and a leg for a higher education. Unfortunately, many (in control) seem totally oblivious to the threat posed by AI and even believe the only coming wave is an increase in the need to gain a higher education, or have no job. I doubt it. Likely they will need to be more entrepreneurial, less academic. The current scenario is like watching the paint slowly drip of a modernist painting, turning Higher Education instead into something quite surreal.
